Built April 2008, this beautiful PML features Red Spruce top, Sugar Maple back and sides, and Violin spirit varnish. Flat fretboard, Tone bar bracing. Elite tuners, Bill James tailpiece, and smaller traditional frets. Nut Width = 1 1/16″
2009 Poor Man’s Loar (PML), Serial nbr 079210R, signed July 2009, 210th instrument Hans built.
Fretboard extension scalloped, .040 stainless steel frets, top is West Virginia red spruce, 1-piece back sugar maple back.

Red spruce (Adirondack) top and sugar maple back with Hans’ vase and flowers abalone headstock inlay, tortoise pickguard, James tailpiece and a scalloped fingerboard extension.
609218-R F5 PML (Poor Man’s Loar)
Signed June, 2009 218th instrument that Hans built, Virginia Red Spruce top, Back, neck, rim: Red Maple, gold James tailpiece & matching Waverly tuners, with Scooped ebony pick-guard, stainless steel frets, 1 3/16″ at the nut, 10″ compound radiused fretboard, ending in a scalloped extension w/faux frets, ‘speed’ neck. Nicknamed “Cruncher” for its’ tonal resemblance to Grisman’s “Crusher“, the owner took the neck profile specs from Mike Marshall’s Loar (but without the “aircraft carrier overhang”). Recent fingerboard replacement including the addition of Block Inlays (pics at end of series)
Truss rod and fretboard replaced, EVO frets w/fretted scooped extension, Tapered fretboard to increase neck angle (per Mike Marshall’s recommendation upon playing it), 15th fret shoulders completed, Gibson Grover tuners, Faux block inaly, Pick guard removed
